Champ Man 15, released on AND and iOS, is a soccer manager that is a mobile continuation of the iconic Championship Manager series. Published for many years on PC, the main series eventually lost against the Football Manager series developed by the original creators of the series from Sports Interactive. However, the developers from Square Enix didn't give up and after a few years of break, they returned under a slightly changed name, this time focusing at the mobile market.

Mechanics

As in any typical manager game, our task in Champ Man 15 is to lead the selected team to the national and international success. Champ Man 15 allows you to choose from more than 400 clubs from 23 world soccer leagues. The manager's role is to take care of all aspects of the team's functioning, including the purchase and sale of players, signing contracts with players and training staff, expansion of the club's infrastructure and, of course, setting up line-ups and tactics for subsequent matches. A very important role in the game is practice - either with the whole team or its individual formations. We pay for these with the so-called Coaching Funds, gained after each match. Thanks to a simple match engine, reminiscent of the previous versions of the series, we can watch our team and modify the formation and tactics.

Champ Man 15 is, in many ways, confusingly similar to the original versions of the Championship Manager series, although the number of options available and the complexity of the gameplay has been simplified to fit the capabilities of mobile devices. Significant changes in gameplay mechanics have also resulted from the use of the free-to-play model, so although the game itself is available for free, there are initially unavailable options and gameplay facilitations that can be purchased with premium currency. An example is the inability to access the most famous soccer teams like Real Madrid or Barcelona. The game can also be made much easier by investing real cash in extra training to improve the efficiency of the team and its individual formations.
