Clock Tower II: The Struggle Within Description
The next installment of a series of horror games featuring point & click mechanics were used. The title does not continue the storylines previously started in the series and adds a few new elements that affect the gameplay.
Story
The year is 1999. 17-year-old Alyssa Hale suffers from a dissociative personality disorder. Her alternative personality, who takes control under the influence of fear, is Mr. Bates. The teenage girl goes to her cousin's home in the small town of Salinas. There she becomes a participant of macabre events, spawned by the mysterious curse of Maxwell.
Depending on the decisions taken during the game, the players can learn several different versions of the story and possible endings.
Mechanics
Clock Tower 2 is a classic adventure game with a point & click interface. The players must not only solve logic puzzles with the use of found objects but also get information from the characters they meet. New feature in this installment is the ability to choose the personality that currently controls the body of the main character. Alyssa can only run away from her opponents, but Mr. Bates is able to fight them with found items and weapons.
Technical aspects
The adventure prepared by Human Entertainment is distinguished by its dark, terrifying story and skillfully built atmosphere. Like its predecessor, it uses a dedicated PS1 mouse for control. Clock Tower 2 is characterized by high level of difficulty, which forces, among other things, learning certain sequences by heart.
