Coffee Talk is an unusual visual novel production from Toge Productions. Following the example of other independent authors, the developers first distributed their work through as a demo version and then made it available on digital distribution platforms.

The Coffee Talk is set in the alternative reality of 2020 and takes us to the Seattle in the US. The population of the city consists not only of people, but also of many fantastic races like elves and orcs, as well as aliens. They have their own stories and dilemmas, which they share during their visits to the café run by the main character.

According to the patterns of the genre, Coffee Talk focuses on learning the story of the characters, and it is up to the player to decide how their fate will turn out. However, while in a typical visual novel, the choice of dialogue issues determines the development of the plot, customer service plays a central role. We have a wide range of coffee and tea types to choose from, as well as a wide range of possibilities to create drawings and patterns from milk (latte art). It is the prepared drinks and the way of treating the characters visiting our shrine that determine the fate of the characters.

Technical aspects

Like other visual novel games, Coffee Talk uses a two-dimensional visual setting. The authors used a pixel art style based on the adventure games of the 1990s and both the background and the character models have simple animations. The fun is accompanied by relaxing music, consisting of jazz and deliberately kept in low quality (lo-fi).
