game release date for PC:
Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient is a horror adventure game by Team GrisGris, a Japanese studio. The team consists of people responsible for the first part of the cycle. The action was shown from a bird's eye view and it refers to games created in RPG Maker, despite the fact that it was possible to abandon two-dimensional graphics in favour of 3D. The game is full of brutal and bloody images, e.g. the body of a child thrown off a balcony, and thus intended for a mature viewer. Corse Party 2: Dead Patient was distributed in an episodic business model and the first episode was released on October 23, 2019.
The main character of the story is a typical Japanese high school student Ayame Itou, who wakes up from a coma in an abandoned and dark hospital called Amare Patriarcha Crucis. However, he does not remember anything from his past, not even his own name, which he only learns from the found recording. He is trapped and discovers, as he explores the corners of a looted hospital, that it is full of other patients who have found themselves in a similar situation, and dangerous creatures like zombies and terrifying ghosts. Our task is to discover the mystery about the disturbing events that took place in the hospital and to escape from this nightmare.
The action takes place five years after the events of the last part of the series, Corpse Party: Blood Drive. Although this is a completely new chapter in history, it refers to its predecessor, which is an additional asset for the biggest fans of 5pb studio production. In contrast to the previous versions, the game is divided into four episodes.
Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient is a classic adventure game that draws its full weight from genres such as horror and visual novel. The game consists mainly in moving around the hospital area, solving puzzles, talking to other characters and making difficult choices. Ayame can also interact with different objects, such as hiding in closets or distracting monsters lurking in the dark. What's more, the game features more arcade scenes, such as boss battles and QTE sequences.
The first parts of Corpse Party were characterized by two-dimensional graphics, but this time the attempt was made to move into three dimensions, but retaining the characteristic bird's eye view. The visual setting is neither too colourful nor too dark, and reflects the production atmosphere well. It is also quite simple, although the creators have modernized it accordingly, adding, among other things, dynamic lighting. The role of the composer was played by Mao Hamamoto, the author of the soundtrack to the previous editions of the cycle.
