Dap is a dark, horror action adventure game. It was developed by independent studio Melting Parrot. Inspirations of the authors include The Legend of Zelda series, animations of Studio Ghibli and works of Philip K. Dick.

Plot

Dap takes us on a journey to a gloomy, fantastic land. The main character is one of the titular Daps, which are cute, humanoid creatures resembling little ghosts. The protagonist travels through the gloomy forest, trying to save as many of his fellows as possible from the powerful evil that has taken over the place.

Mechanics

In Dap we observe the action from a top-down view. During the game we take control over single Dap and we explore dark locations. On the way we meet other Daps, which join us and follow us step by step. We can give simple commands to our charges, telling them to stop in a certain place or to follow us. To rescue them, we must safely guide them through the levels, solving puzzles and avoiding or facing danger... or face them.

There are various monsters waiting for us in the forest, which can be attacked by Dapes either melee or with the help of spells. It is worth remembering that the larger our group is, the better it can defend itself against the evil creatures. Another thing is that even with a long "tail" of Daps behind us, we must constantly be on guard. In many places, our charges can become infected, turning into bloodthirsty monsters straight out of a nightmare.

In between stages, you'll find yourself in the spirit world, where you can relax and tend to your garden.
