Release Date: TBA
The third main installment of the very popular FPP action series, featuring a zombie apocalypse setting. Dead Island 3 (hypothetical title) is being developed by Dambuster Studios - they're behind the second part of the series and they've also released Homefront: The Revolution.
In April 2023, nine years after the official announcement, Dead Island 2, the sequel to the Polish action game set in a world overrun by zombies, was released for sale. Its completion ultimately fell to the Dambuster Studios team, previously known for the game Homefront: The Revolution. Over time, this game received two additions, namely Dead Island 2: Haus and Dead Island 2: SoLA, after which there was silence on the subject of further development of the brand.
Things changed in September 2025, when the company Deep Silver, which owns the rights to the brand, celebrated the second installment of the series reaching a milestone of attracting 20 million players. At that time it was revealed that Dambuster Studios is working on the "next chapter of the Dead Island saga", without revealing any additional details. It can be assumed that the third part of the series has appeared on the horizon.
Dead Island 3 (hypothetical title) most likely will not bring revolutionary changes in mechanics. Probably in line with the tradition of the series, we will receive a first-person action game, in which we will explore sun-drenched locations with an open structure, complete a series of missions, and also face hordes of zombies, making use of an inventive arsenal that includes melee weapons and firearms.
Undoubtedly, in the work of Dambuster Studios, the ability to modify equipment will return, as well as the development of characters differentiated in terms of combat skills. Moreover, it is hard to imagine that besides the single-player mode, the third entry in the series would not include an online coop.
