Deadpool: The Video Game Description
Licensed on Marvel Comics Deadpool: The Video Game for PC, PS4 and etc. is a joint work of High Moon studio and Activision company. This is also the first full-size game completely focused on to the title character (previously Deadpool appeared as a secondary character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds and Spider- Man: Shattered Divisions).
Story
The script was written by Daniel Way, co-author of comic books series such as Wolverine: Origins, Deadpool, and Starr the Slayer. The story begins with kidnapping the employees of High Moon studios. The kidnapper turns out to be Deadpool, who demands from the developers to create the best superhero game possible with himself as the lead character.
During the game, players follow the adventures of the hero who takes the job to kill Chance White, a corrupt media magnate. However, his plans get interrupted by Mister Sinister, which costs Deadpool a lot of money. The mercenary wants revenge. Therefore he agrees to cooperate with the X-Men and is sent to Genosha, an island of mutants, where Sinister headed to collect new DNA in order to create an army.
The goal that the developers followed, was that the in-game Deadpool was true to the comic original. Therefore, the bigmouthed antihero controlled by the player is characterized by sarcastic sense of humor, shaky moral standards, and devastatingly effective means of eliminating his opponents.
Gameplay
In terms of gameplay, Deadpool: The Video Game for PC, PS4 and etc. resembles a dynamic TPP slasher. The title hero is armed with gear that is so characteristic of him - a pair of pistols and two katanas, whereas he can also use weapons found on his way (such as hammers). The fight is based on skillfully combining individual attacks into spectacular combos.
An interesting element of the game are interactions with the main character (popularly referred to as breaking the fourth wall). In certain situations, Deadpool speaks directly to players, e.g. when teaching them new combos, instructing how to deal with opponents, or commenting on the in-game events.
One of the game’s assets is including other characters who are well-known to comic books fans (including Wolverine, Psylocke, Domino, Cable, and Arclight ), as well as situational humor and funny remarks made by the main character. Just like in the cartoons and previous video games featuring Deadpool, the character is voiced by American actor - Nolan North.
