Deadside emphasizes a multitude of mechanics, balancing between a multiplayer shooter and survival game. The game takes place in a doomed post-apocalyptic world, but we won't experience any supernatural things like zombies or anomalies. Instead, the creators focused on the realistic aspects of life on the ruins of a civilization. Before the official release, the game was available for testing in Steam early access. The creators of the game, Bad Pixel, made themselves known to the world with UFO Online: Invasion and VR Enigma.

Plot

There is no plot as such in the game. Instead, we learn the history of the world and the people who live there through the appearance of the locations, short conversations with friendly NPCs and missions they commission. During the game we meet characters belonging to different factions. These may be security forces still loyal to the former government, cannibal groups living in small villages, bandits interested in our property, lonely wanderers or other players. With the latter, we either battle or establish cooperation and move around the world together. The missions themselves do not feature an extensive story and mostly consist of fighting against specific groups of enemies in given areas.
