Defenders of the Last Colony is a shoot-em-up arcade game with a certain amount of strategic aspects. Players are constantly struggling in cosmic space using various weapons.

The main mode of the game is a campaign in which we follow the fate of four space pilots defending the last colony of the human race. During the next missions we will focus on defending the human colony against the incoming waves of hostile Stelarians and on collecting blue matter to allow the main ship to jump into excess space (moving on to the next stage).

During the game we have two types of ships at our disposal. The first of these is the Fighter, designed for lovers of continuous assault on enemies. His strongest attack is a salvo of powerful self-destructive missiles. The second ship is the Engineer - it allows you to build structures in space, which help to repel the waves of invaders. During the game, players can also find relics - objects, thanks to which you can additionally increase the capabilities of selected ships.

Defenders of the Last Colony allows up to four players to play multiplayer games simultaneously on a single screen, allowing you to use a variety of strategies to defend your mother ship. In addition to the actual role-playing campaign, the game also features the classic Survival (a constant struggle for survival among the constantly flowing waves of enemies), Versus mode, where players can fight against each other, and two other gameplay models that pay tribute to old slot machine productions.

The first of these modes is the Sidescroller, in which the player's ship confronts the opponents flying to the right, while Invaders Mode is a direct reference to one of the precursors of the genre, namely Space Invaders (ships attacking from above, the player's ship moves only to the left and right, retrofitting). All of the aforementioned gameplay options are associated with a number of achievements that can be gained during the game.

The game presents itself solidly in terms of visual setting. Detailed models of high-resolution ships are impressive, as are the background graphics of the space skirmishes.
