The player takes on the role of a hero who was sent by a powerful sorceress to a mysterious dungeon complex. Somewhere in the midst of a network of corridors stretching for miles, there is a magical sphere. Finding it is the main goal of the game.
The game starts with the creation of a hero (you can also choose a daredevil, prepared by the authors of the program). There are six races to choose from (man, elf, semi-elf, dwarf, gnom and lowland) and seventeen professions (e.g. warrior, paladin, sorcerer, cleric, thief and bard). Our character is also described by means of six skills, the parameters of which are set randomly or manually, assigning points to each of them. At the end we decide on the appearance of the facial and move directly to the dungeon.
The action takes place in real time, which means that the fight against monsters resembles "hack'n'slash" type productions. The player observes the world from the perspective of the first person, the movement takes place in leaps and bounds, as in other RPG games issued by Strategic Simulations Inc. The biggest advantage of the program is the variable layout of the corridors, generated randomly before the beginning of the game. Thanks to this solution, each game will be completely different, because apart from the terrain, the location of objects, traps and monsters important from the point of view of the scenario is also modified. Players will have the chance to wander through labyrinths, search for hidden buttons and walls, exterminate a large number of monsters and collect items. As in other products of this type, you will also need to take care of food and the need to regenerate during rest.
Dungeon Hack offers nice, colorful graphics in low resolution and good sound. Noteworthy is a well-prepared map, which immediately marks the location of all objects, easy access to the inventory and statistics of the hero, as well as an unprecedented option of "realism" - if you die, the program will honestly delete your hero and all your savees.
