The action of Dungeon Punks takes place in a fantasy world where humans lead contemporary-style lives, but the role of technology was taken over by omnipresent magic. The protagonists are couriers who accidentally discover the dark secrets of the RezCorp insurance company who resurrect their clients in case of death.
Dungeon Punks for PS4, PC and etc. is a two-dimensional action RPG meant for people who like multiplayer. The production was developed by the independent Hyper Awesome Entertainment. The team previously worked on Shadowtale, a simple online RPG for PC. Dungeon Punks is the first project of the developer to come out simultaneously on PC and consoles. The developers drew inspiration from classical cooperation fighting games from arcade machines as well as 16-bit role-playing titles.
The story told is clearly humorous. The action of Dungeon Punks takes place in a fantasy world where the omnipresent magic functions similarly to technology, and people lead contemporary-style lives. The protagonists are couriers who accidentally discover the dark secrets of the RezCorp insurance company who resurrect their clients in case of an unexpected death. These mysteries draw a lot of problems to the protagonists’ lives, mainly in the form of foes who are armed to the teeth and incredibly dangerous.
The gameplay in Dungeon Punks looks similar to classical beat ‘em up games. We can play solo or with two other players, both locally and over the Internet. The production allows us to alternately control two different characters that can be switched between depending on the situation. The heroes have a rich set of spells, special abilities, and team attacks, which helps us wade through hordes of various opponents and bosses. Players can also use power-ups, spell scrolls, and healing potions. The developers also implemented mounts, such as unicorns and tigers. Apart from the story campaign, we can also solve side quests or take part in arena skirmishes.
Dungeon Punks for PS4, PC and etc. offers two-dimensional graphics which are not too rich in detail. Character models received only rudimentary animations, because of what they resemble slow paper puppets rather than fantasy heroes. On the other hand, the title can be appealing to fans of comics.
