The main pros of the game

  • Unique Gameplay Mechanics: The DLC introduces a hybrid gameplay style combining dungeon management with overworld base building, reminiscent of classic RTS games like Warcraft III.
  • Humor and Story Elements: The game retains the quirky humor and charm of the Dungeons series, with entertaining character interactions and dialogues.
  • New Units and Skills: Players get access to new heroes and units, along with fresh skills that enhance gameplay variety.
  • Co-op Play: The game is enjoyable in co-op mode, allowing players to manage different aspects of gameplay simultaneously.
  • Visuals and Presentation: The art style and voice acting are praised, maintaining the quality of the base game.

The main cons of the game

  • Short Campaign: The DLC consists of only three missions, which many players feel is insufficient for the price, especially compared to previous DLCs that offered more content.
  • Incomplete Story: The campaign ends abruptly, leaving players feeling unsatisfied with the narrative, as it feels like a setup for future content rather than a complete story arc.
  • Clunky Gameplay Mechanics: Players have reported issues with the UI and controls, particularly regarding building in the overworld, which can feel cumbersome and unrefined.
  • Lack of Depth: Critics argue that the new gameplay elements do not sufficiently expand upon the existing Dungeons mechanics, leading to a feeling of missed potential.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • More Missions: Players express a desire for a longer campaign, ideally with five or more missions to fully explore the new gameplay mechanics.
  • Enhanced Hero Mechanics: Many users wish for a more robust leveling system for heroes, as they currently upgrade rather than gain experience through combat.
  • Improved Overworld Building: Suggestions include the ability to build walls and more varied structures in the overworld, as well as better integration of the dungeon and overworld mechanics.
  • More Diverse Enemy Units: Players have noted the absence of a wider variety of units to control, particularly missing out on the Horde and Demon races that were available in previous games.

Summary

  • Overall, while Dungeons 4 - Not Another Multiverse introduces some fresh ideas and maintains the series' humor, many players feel it falls short in terms of content and execution compared to previous entries in the franchise.
