Edge of Memories is an action RPG with graphics inspired by Japanese animation. The game was prepared by Midgar Studio - a French development team, which has a similar genre project, Edge of Eternity, in its portfolio.

Story

Edge of Memories takes us to the fantasy world known as Heryon. While Astrya, one of the continents that make it up, succumbed to the pressure of Corrosion transforming everything into grotesque monstrosities, the second continent - inhabited by the nomads of Avaris, is just beginning to fight this terrible plague.

The main character of the game is a wandering Soul Whisperer named Elin, who discovers within herself the power to control Corrosion in her own body. From now on she becomes the only hope for the continent of Avaris, but she is not doomed to a solitary journey. She is assisted by people like her mentor Ysoris or Kant - a shaman-prince of a lost tribe.

Gameplay

In Edge of Memories we view the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).

Game world

The adventure leads us through various locations such as the sandy coast and the port city of Sarlah-Durah located in its center, as well as the peaks of the high Kezal Mountains.

As the plot develops, driven by conversations with characters and quests, the appearance of the places we visit undergoes various changes. We can explore individual areas on foot or on the back of Nekaroo, our feline companion.

Combat

Fighting enemies plays an important role in the game. During dynamic battles, we must demonstrate agility and reflexes, linking quick and heavy attacks into combinations. Additionally, filling up the fury indicator gives us the ability to transform into a Berserker with increased strength and resistance to damage.

As we progress, allies join us, providing indispensable support on the battlefield. Each of them was equipped with unique strengths and therefore we must demonstrate tactical sense, skillfully using the abilities of individual companions.

Engine and sounds

Edge of Memories operates on Unreal Engine 5. The game is set to the accompaniment of music composed by Cedric Menendez and vocals by Emi Evans (known from the game NieR: Automata). The final theme of the game was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, whose works we could listen to in Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade Chronicles and Sea of Stars.
