Although Tibia reigns supreme in the realm of 2D MMORPGs, from time to time, new productions emerge ready to challenge its dominance. One such game is Ethernia, an independent creation by Pugna Studio, crafted in an old-school style and distributed in a free-to-play model.

In Ethernia events are viewed from a top-down perspective. The adventure begins with character creation. At the start, we decide on your character's gender and appearance, and customize their attributes and specialization according to our preferences.

Open world, quests, and combat

The game offers an open world divided into diverse regions. As we go through these areas, we complete assigned quests, face various challenges, and engage in battles with opponents. The combat takes place in real-time, and in some battles (and other interactions), our success or failure is determined by a dice roll. How we eliminate enemies (whether through melee, ranged combat, or using magic) is determined by the class and skills we choose.

Story, character, and equipment development

As we progress, we push the storyline forward and its final shape is determined by what we do and the decisions we make. Additionally, over time, we develop the character. To this end, we enhance their abilities and statistics and equip them with special runes (which increase their combat potential by providing various passive and active effects), as well as increasingly better equipment. The latter can be upgraded and created by our character using collected resources and materials (the game implements gathering and mining) thanks to the crafting system.

Story

Ethernia takes us to the titular continent, which for centuries has been an arena for magical conflicts and is now bending under the pressure of dark forces known as the Twilight Ticket. During the game we take on the role of the heir to the resistance movement, destined to leave a lasting mark on the fate of these lands.
