Europa Universalis IV: Winds of Change PC

Europa Universalis IV: Winds of Change is an expansion to the grand strategy game titled Europa Universalis IV, which was released in 2013. This DLC is the result of collaboration between Paradox Development Studio and Paradox Tinto teams.

Mechanics

As the title suggests, Europa Universalis IV: Winds of Change focuses on the changes that three regions of the world are experiencing. During the game, we find ourselves right in the middle of it and we can steer the fate of our country in such a way that it turns to our advantage.

European countries, led by the Netherlands, Venice, Austria, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, can use the emerging reformation and pro-nationalist sentiments to carry out reforms that strengthen their position. In the face of the looming threat on the horizon, indigenous American peoples, such as the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas, can wage war and conquer new territories to prepare for the impending danger. The impending downfall of the Mongol Empire leaves an opportunity for other countries and people inhabiting Central Asia to assert themselves.

New mechanics in the expansion enable reforms. By controlling the Aztecs, we have the "Tonalli" mechanics, which makes it easier to conduct warfare, and by taking control of Venice, we can use the Government mechanics, cooperating with the Council of Ten or completely opposing it. In addition to this, the DLC brings English national content and Czech Hussite content, the Austrian imperial incident "Universal Empire", a new type of subject - Sojurghal - for the Timurids, as well as thematic content for Germany and Italy.

Game modes

Similar to the base version of the game, in Europa Universalis IV: Winds of Change we can play alone or in multiplayer mode over the Internet.

Technical aspects

Europa Universalis IV: Winds of Change is a non-standalone expansion, so it requires the base version of the Europa Universalis IV game to run. Players who pre-ordered it received access to a package containing three musical tracks, inspired by the regions and events that this expansion focuses on.
