F/A-18 Hornet 3.0 Description
F/A-18 Hornet 3.0 is the third installment of the popular flight simulator, which debuted on Macintosh in 1993. In the game we can sit at the helm of one of the most modern military aircraft, commonly known as "spreading". (hornet). Graphic Simulations studio from Dallas is responsible for the creation and development of the series.
McDonell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet, a multi-purpose, supersonic fighter, was created in the late 1970s in the United States and has been modified over the years. Since the 1980s, it has been one of the basic models used by the armed forces of many countries, including the USA, Australia, Canada, Finland, Spain, Switzerland and Kuwait. Programmers from Graphic Simulations from the beginning of their series have been trying to reproduce as faithfully as possible the behavior of the plane, and the third installment of the game is by far the most advanced of the simulations released so far.
The biggest advantage of the game is the very high realism of the flight. The computerized F/A-18 reacts to the joystick movements almost the same way as its real counterpart. The game also plays a number of on-board systems, avionics and cockpit of the title machine, and also allows to use all the weapons that Hornet can actually carry.
F/A-18 Hornet 3.0 offers 28 different missions that we can carry out individually or as part of a campaign. A relatively short and concise briefing introduces us to the reality of each of them. There are also 6 maps, dedicated to training flights or multiplayer game, in which up to 4 players can take part at the same time. The game offers a lot of configuration possibilities, from setting the effectiveness of weapons to the computer intelligence of the opponent.
The relatively simple, shaded, vector graphics used in the game, in terms of detail, stands out slightly from the competing simulators, however, the authors decided on the speed of animation. In the F/A-18 Hornet 3.0 there is no music at all. However, the excellent sound effects deserve special mention: the sounds of motors, shots, explosions and reports heard in the headphones were prepared from really high quality samples.
