An action RPG with a TPP camera, set in a fantasy world and meant to be played in coop. Farever was developed by Shiro Games (Northgard, Dune: Spice Wars, Evoland). We travel to a war-torn Siagarta land, full of deadly enemies, platforming challenges and puzzles.
Farever is an action RPG, designed with cooperative gameplay in mind. The game was created by Shiro Games - an independent French development studio, which has titles such as Northgard, Dune: Spice Wars and Evoland in its portfolio.
Farever takes us to the land of Siagarta, where people have returned after five centuries of exile. In their absence, the world was taken over by their eternal enemies - the Nightlings - who do not want to allow the revival of their power. Although twenty-five years have passed, the land is still immersed in chaos, which serves as a backdrop for attempts at reconstruction and making discoveries.
In Farever we watch events from a third-person perspective (TPP).
The game gives us access to an open world, which we can freely explore on foot or in the air (gliding mechanic). Various factions and guilds divided the land of Siagarta among themselves. The Crimson Rams is the leading faction, forming a real army. There are also the Nepsids who are fish people, as well as the enigmatic Heralds. The main antagonists, however, are the Nightlings.
A range of character classes have been implemented, differentiated in terms of preferred weapons, fighting style, as well as the range of available skills and talents. Regardless of which one we choose, we can perform various roles in the team, including taking on enemy attacks (as a tank), supporting allies or fighting on the front line (as a DPS character).
As we progress, we develop our character, which over time allows us to face increasingly greater challenges. We can craft new equipment using the resources collected along the way. This is important, because at any given moment we can have both a primary and secondary weapon with us, each of which unlocks unique abilities and affects our combat potential.
Fights with opponents are dynamic. We must not only skillfully juggle the abilities and attacks of characters, but also demonstrate agility and reflexes. These also come in handy during exploration, which is full of platforming challenges. The game also features puzzles waiting to be solved.
The driving force of the game are battles with opponents, expeditions to dungeons, dealing with enemy invasions, as well as participating in other exciting events. In between great adventures, we can devote ourselves to more mundane activities, such as cooking or blacksmithing.
Farever was designed with cooperative play in mind, although the game also allows for solo play. The difficulty level is scaled depending on the number of players participating in the adventure.
The graphic design of Farever was maintained in a cartoon style.
