Forgetter is an adventure game with elements of puzzle game, in which we play as a person who explores the minds of dead artists and eliminates negative memories from them. The game was developed and published by Sometimes Monastery, an independent studio, and is its debut project.
Forgetter is set in a future world where the Mindjob corporation, thanks to modern technology, has enabled its clients to awaken the creativity of their children by... transplanting to them the minds of artists who have passed away. The player takes on the role of an employee who cleans the memories of deceased artists from negative, unhealthy emotions that could scare away potential customers.
In Forgetter we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). The game is all about exploring strange locations and finding things connected with traumatic experiences, which need to be removed. These can take many forms - such as thorns, plants, stains or dirt, as well as disturbing artwork. The player's goal is to eliminate these types of problems using several tools (including an axe and a hoover), and ultimately transform the artist's mind into a polite, non-controversial product ready for sale.
During the game we also encounter the remains of the consciousness of the dead, who do not like the havoc we are wreaking - we can then help them find a way to eternal peace. We also watch various fragments of the lives of people whose minds we explore. It is also worth noting that for performing our duties we receive a reward - the higher the better we do.
Forgetter offers a single player mode only. The main game mode is the story campaign.
The game has an interesting 3D graphic design. In terms of technology, the game does not stand out, but it uses real works created by existing artists.
