An old school FPS, in which players travel to a world straight out of H.P. Lovecraft's works. In Forgive me Father we play as a priest or journalist, who are looking for answers to their questions, eliminating hordes of monsters.
Forgive me Father is an old-school FPS. The game was developed by Byte Barrel, an independent Polish studio, and was published by 1C Entertainment.
Forgive me Father takes us on a journey to the world from H.P. Lovecraft's writings, filled with monsters from the worst nightmares. During the game we play as a priest or a journalist, who eliminate hosts of adversaries, trying to find answers to their questions and trying not to go mad (to the rest).
In Forgive me Father the action was shown from the first person perspective (FPP). During the game we wander through various locations and eliminate hordes of enemies. On our way there are various creatures, such as living corpses or Liquidators resembling human and octopus hybrids. We kill them, using mainly firearms (like pistol, shotgun or machine gun) and gadgets like throwing knives. In addition, we use special skills on the battlefield, which we unlock as we progress. It is worth remembering that the priest and the journalist have different powers. And when all else fails, nothing stands in the way of trying to hit opponents with a broom.
During the fights we have to pay attention to the level of insanity of our character, because it has an impact on both the audiovisual setting and gameplay. As the described game is based on old school FPS style, we have to look for first aid kits on our way and firearms don't need to be reloaded.
Colourful graphics of the game Forgive me Father were made in cel-shading technique. An interesting trick is the placement of opponent sprites in three-dimensional locations. The impression of experiencing a moving comic book is enhanced by text that appears on the screen at certain moments (such as "headshot" or "boom" after an effective explosion).

Game Ratings for Forgive Me Father Video Game.
AusGamers: 6 / 10 by Kosta Andreadis
In the end it’s hard to look at this as anything but a missed opportunity, where the mix of old and new doesn’t quite come together. The horror aspirations amount to little more than set dressing. Fast-paced shooting is where Forgive Me Father settles, a place where enemies move in predefined patterns and strafing is just about all you need to do to survive. As fun as that can be in doses, there’s little incentive to keep going once you realise that’s all there is.
Screen Rant: 4 / 5 by Scott Baird
Forgive Me Father's single-player campaign lasts around eight hours and there's never a dull moment to be had. The game is challenging and the player will need to use every resource at their disposal to survive each stage, but it offers that Soulslike feeling of satisfaction when overcoming overwhelming odds. There has been a revival for retro shooters on modern platforms in recent years, with games like Doom 64 and Quake coming to modern platforms, and Forgive Me Father proves that there's room for new games in the genre that retain everything that makes them fun while adding some new elements to spice things up.

First-person shooters don't get much more entertaining than Forgive Me Father so if you're up for a challenge then definitely play it.
