An old-school FPS released by 3D Realms. In Cultic we play as a hero who fights against mysterious and dangerous sect. During the game we dash ahead and eliminate hordes of enemies, making use of expanded arsenal.
Cultic is an old-school FPS. The game was developed by an independent one-man studio Jasozz Games (founded by Jason Smith), and was published by 3D Realms.
The action of Cultic is set in the middle of 20th century. We meet the main character in the moment of his death, but right after saying goodbye to life, protagonist has to come back to it. His task is to face a dangerous cult, whose members carry out the will of a mysterious, sinister creature.
In Cultic we observe the action from first person perspective (FPP). During the game we explore gloomy locations and eliminate hordes of enemies. In fight we use extended arsenal including machine gun, rifle, pistol or dynamite.
The fights are dynamic, and during them we have to not only shoot accurately, but also constantly be on the move, running, dodging or sliding on the ground. However, rushing forward with a battle cry on your lips is not always the ideal solution. Sometimes we have to use more complex tactics, such as setting traps for enemies or trying to manoeuvre the battlefield to turn enemies against each other.
Graphics (as well as sound) of Cultic is kept in retro style from the 1990s. However, the whole thing is enriched with modern solutions, such as realistic physics and lighting.

Game Ratings for Cultic Video Game.
TechRaptor: 8 / 10 by Austin Suther
Cultic is a creepy romp through tombs, towns, and other terrorizing areas. Tight gunplay, fantastic stylized visuals and a somber soundtrack are only held back a bit by the dumb AI and relatively trivial combat encounters.
Saving Content: 4 / 5 by Scott Ellison II
CULTIC is off to a great start, with Chapter One being an assortment of excellent combat, familiar enemies, and sometimes samey levels. It’s perfect to dig into for this Halloween season, and has a really great atmosphere that can’t be beaten. I’m eager to return to this when Chapter Two is released, as this is only half the story, making it feel a little incomplete. Chapter One of CULTIC offers a Nu-Blood experience, lots of replayability, and tons of memorable and emergent gameplay moments.
DayOne: 8 / 10 by Győző Baki
Cultic is deliberately not as fast-paced and chaotic as some of the most beloved 90’s classics, and it plays into that angle with an excellent horror aesthetic, marvelous level designs, interesting puzzles and a combat that requires some reasoning, not just fast fingers on the trigger. It’s probably not for everyone, but if it scratches the right itch for you, it can be a stellar shooter.
