Franchise Hockey Manager 5 is an advanced hockey manager, which allows players to lead their team in one of several dozen official leagues (e.g. in the Polish and American NHL - the only strategy game licensed by this organization). Production is part of a cycle started in 2014. The German company Out of the Park was responsible for its development, a consequence of developing the series since its inception.

Mechanics

The Franchise Hockey Manager 5's gameplay follows the formula we know from other managers - our task is to lead the chosen (or created) team to success. The title has the current line-up of the National Hockey League, but, interestingly, we also have the opportunity to move into the past - the game allows you to start your career even in 1917.

The player has the ability to sell and buy players, find talents (with the help of scouts), and manage the club at a financial level. Extensive statistics on the condition of the team and individual players (such as age, susceptibility to injuries and general fitness) help in making decisions. We also supervise the training staff and lead our team during the games themselves, being responsible for the choice of tactics and the right line-up.

Compared to previous versions of the series, the tactical depth and control of the player over the team has been noticeably increased - we have the ability to influence every detail. There is also a completely new mechanics of team chemistry, combined with a personality system - these solutions represent an additional tactical layer to be taken into account when managing a team.

Game modes

At Franchise Hockey Manager 5 we can play alone or with others via the Internet. In addition to the normal single player mode, the game also offers several other options, such as the ability to create your own team from scratch, and the extremely difficult Challenge Mode. We also have the opportunity to play the role of a commissioner responsible, among others, for the selection of judges.

Technical aspects

Franchise Hockey Manager 5 utilizes graphic design typical for this genre, which consists mainly of various types of statistics' screens. The user interface is clear and well designed.
