Fumes PC

Fumes is a Polish game "inspired by the golden age of vehicular combat games", series such as Twisted Metal and Interstate. It's a singleplayer, third-person game, in which we drive cars equipped with machine guns, rocket launchers and all sorts of different weapons. The game was created by a very small team.

Gameplay

The game is set in procedurally generated postapocalyptic wastelands roamed by gangs of hostile drivers. Exploration is rather secondary, combat being the game's main focus.

We can choose from all sorts of vehicles, and though none are officially licensed, they're inspired by cars that were common in Poland in the 1970s and 1980s, such as the Fiat 126p.

The vehicles have unique abilities and can be customized to our liking, equipped with all sorts of weapons. Better parts can be acquired by defeating bosses.

The driving system in Fumes is heavily arcadey, inspired by old rally games.

Technology

Visually, Fumes is also inspired by "the genre's golden age" - the textures and models are simple, resembling those made in the 1990s; flames take the form of 2D sprites and there's fog that limits our field of view.
