Prepared by EA Redwood Shores, which later transformed into Visceral Games, a three-dimensional action action with a third person view. Maintained in the climates of science fiction production allows you to play the role of a police officer and at the same time a pilot of a modern combat robot.

Plot

2098 Los Angeles was captured by gangs who terrorise the inhabitants. The chance to restore order in the city is provided by modern combat robots, which have been put at the disposal of the local police. The players, as pilots of these machines, set off to fight the criminals. The aim is to regain control of the next districts of the metropolis.

Mechanics

Future Cop: L.A.P.D. puts players in the role of pilots of a modern combat machine, the X-1 Alpha, and sends them on a series of missions in different regions of the city captured by criminals. The vehicle is armed with several different types of weapons, divided into three categories. These include machine guns, flame throwers, Hellfire rockets, grenade launchers and mines. Before each task, the player can choose equipment to suit their tastes and upcoming challenges. Additionally, the X-1 Alpha is equipped with two moulds. As the moss is slower, but has full armament. In turn as a hovercraft he gains in maneuverability and speed of movement.

The authors made sure that the clashes with the overwhelming forces of the enemy were dynamic and effective. This is facilitated by the developed dexterity control model, where players can not only easily select targets and use different types of weapons, but also use side-steps to avoid incoming missiles. The skirmishes are additionally enriched by power-ups lying on the board, which improve the X-1 Alpha and increase its combat capabilities.

In the basic fun module, the aim is to take control of individual districts of Los Angeles. In order to do this, it is necessary to perform specific tasks, such as catching a target or destroying an object. Future Cop also allows you to test your skills in a kind of deathmatch, in which two pilots face each other. Each of them has its own base, where it can produce tanks. The aim is to bring one of these vehicles to the rival's command point. This task is hindered by the protective objects, which are being reborn over time by turrets. In both modules players can play alone or with another person on a split screen.

Technical aspects

Future Cop: L.A.P.D is a three-dimensional action game in which the camera presents the action from behind the character's back by default. The creators also made it possible to select other views, including the projection from above the pilot machine. The title is kept in the style of science fiction and presents visions of famous parts of Los Angeles, such as Gritffith Park or Venice Beach, in a few dozen years.
