Paper Trail is a puzzle game with a world made of double-sided pieces of paper. The protagonist, freshman Paige, has the power to fold them in such a way as to create a path for herself to places inaccessible to others.
Paper Trail is a puzzle game with adventure game elements, standing out for its unusual world, created from double-sided sheets of paper, which we manipulate during gameplay. It was developed and published by a small, indie London-based studio Newfangled Games.
Paige, whom we take on the role of, is a freshman and leaves her hometown neighborhood for the first time to reach the University and continue her studies. During her journey, she discovers many new picturesque places and the secrets associated with them, and learns about different people, their stories and wisdom. He moves through the world using her stealth skills and by combining his two sides, which she must expand.
We move through a 2D world made of interconnected double-sided pieces of paper. Using the extraordinary abilities of our heroine, we have to bend them in such a way (from eight sides) to create a path forward. We do this by appropriately connecting paths, moving and rotating their mobile pieces, recreating patterns, or using pressure fields and moving objects. Often this requires multi-step movements and the ability to retrace one's steps back to the starting point.
For the more ambitious, stars are hidden in some nooks and crannies of the maps, the collecting of which requires extra thinking.

Game Ratings for Paper Trail Video Game.
Hardcore Gamer: 4 / 5 by Matthew Murphy
Paper Trail delivers the perfect blend of color and art style that's a standout among the puzzle game genre. The technical mechanics are innovative and creatively integrate new challenges as the story goes on, making the experience engaging and thoughtful. While this storybook looks visually stunning, the plot lacks a sense of depth and doesn’t add much to the games’ experience. Paper Trail puts a twist on the simple indie game and centers itself on display for everyone to see in all its splendor.
Video Chums: 3 / 5 by A.J. Maciejewski
I had a solid time with Paper Trail but it definitely becomes tedious once you realise that its core gameplay is actually rather simplistic.
GameSpew: 7 / 10 by Kim Snaith
Brought to life with gorgeous hand-drawn art, Paper Trail is beautiful to look at. Its puzzles, centring around folding and unfolding paper, are an acquired taste, however, and can quickly grow tiresome. As well-designed and clever as they are, we'd wager some players will struggle to digest more than a couple of levels at a time.
