An adventure-sim game, in which we play as a girl named Angela. Closer the Distance revolves around her taking care of her friends and family in the time of grief.
Closer the Distance is a combination of an adventure game and a life simulator. It was developed by the independent Osmotic Studios, also responsible for games such as Orwell: Ignorance is Strength and Orwell: Keeping an Eye on You.
Closer the Distance's emotionally charged story revolves around such themes as empathy, friendship, grief and interpersonal relationships.
The game is set in a town of Yesterby. Its main protagonist is Angela, who decides to take care of her family and friends while they're grieving after being impacted by a fatal car crash. To help them, Angela uses her ethereal ability to influence people, with her choices leaving a mark on their lives and the entire town.
The gameplay of Closer the Distance is shown from a top-down view. The player wanders around Yesterby, talking to Angela's family members and friends. In order to help them deal with their troubles we use the protagonist's supernatural abilities. Occasionally we must also make choices that affect the further course of the story.
The visuals of Closer the Distance make use of an atmospheric, cartoonish artstyle.

Game Ratings for Closer the Distance Video Game.
Impulsegamer: 4 / 5 by Gareth Newnham
An enthralling slice of life sim about love, loss and moving on.
COGconnected: 84 / 100 by Mark Steighner
Thanks to its art direction and genuinely creative use of Sims-like mechanics, Closer the Distance gets your attention. What keeps you enthralled, emotionally engaged, and frequently discomforted is its pitch-perfect exploration of some very difficult subject matter. It’s a heavy game but absolutely worth your time.
GamesCreed: 4.6 / 5 by Mariella Deadman
Closer The Distance is a fantastic game told in a beautiful way. The gameplay adds to the story in a way that helps you understand how a tragedy can affect a whole town. Every character feels deliberate, as if they exist with a purpose in the story, feeling fleshed out with a history rather than existing just to be a character in the town. The sound and graphics add to the story, both being beautiful and making the world more unique and real.
