GNOG is an original 3D puzzle game that uses a touch interface. The production allows players to explore the full range of surprises and mysteries... the heads of strange monsters. The title is also distinguished by a very colorful graphic design and supports the technology of virtual or augmented reality. It was created by developers from the independent KO_OP studio (in the past they helped Square Enix to work on Lara Croft GO). The role of the publisher was taken over by Double Fine (as part of the Double Fine Presents brand).

The GNOG game is about solving three-dimensional puzzles - we operate various elements of monster heads, rotating them, opening and activating various functions - e.g. switching levers, moving wheels or rotating shelves. When playing we also find find finders (e.g. coins). We use motion controllers (in case we play VR), pads, or a mouse and keyboard to control the system.

It is worth noting that the first control system offers a more natural way of interacting with the environment and provides a more complete experience. By touching particular parts of the world, we create a variety of effects that allow us to achieve the goal and move on to the next level. Music reacts to our actions as well, which changes adequately.

Game modes

In GNOG we can only play alone. The basis of the game is the single player mode - the title does not offer any network functionality.

Technical aspects

GNOG has an original design at a fairly high level. Its main elements are inspired by real toys, hand-drawn, heads of monsters, which have been transferred to a three-dimensional environment. Each of them is different, but all of them are characterized by interesting designs and a very clear palette of colors.

The computer version of this production works with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Valve Index goggles. The PS4 dedicated release is compatible with PlayStation VR helmets and PlayStation Move motion controllers. Edition for iOS devices uses augmented reality technology - in this case, the gameplay is transferred to the real world (e.g. to our table or desk).
