Release Date: 2026
A complex remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, following Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition released back in 2011. This new version was developed by Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries), the company that oversees the series' development. It features improved visuals and audio, as well as 3 new missions set before the main campaign.
Halo: Combat Evolved is a shooter that debuted in November 2001 alongside the Xbox console. It became its first so-called "system seller" (a game that significantly contributed to the sales results of the console and established its position in the market).
Halo: Campaign Evolved discussed here is a comprehensive remake and the second refresh after Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, released in 2011. This is the work of the Halo Studios team, previously known as 343 Industries, overseeing the brand's development.
The most significant new feature introduced in Halo: Campaign Evolved is the thoroughly refreshed graphics layer. The creators have focused on all its elements - from textures, lighting, and particle effects, through resolution, to cutscenes. The soundtrack has also been remastered, and the dialogue lines have been re-recorded (with the participation of the original voice actors).
Additionally, this version stands out from the original due to three additional missions set before the events of the main campaign, improved controls, modernized level designs, and an expanded range of weapons, vehicles, and enemies. Complementing all this are new Skulls, which are special gameplay modifiers that can be used to "remix" the campaign and replay individual missions with altered rules.
In Halo: Campaign Evolved the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP), while driving vehicles is presented from third-person view (TPP). Throughout various missions, we explore the titular structure and investigate its mysteries, as well as face off against enemies.
Among these, the Covenant forces threatening humanity take the lead, which we eliminate using a futuristic arsenal that includes both Earth-origin weapons (led by the battle rifle) and alien firearms (such as the needler or energy sword). Additionally, on the battlefield, we make use of vehicles, with the Warthog off-road vehicle taking the lead, as well as enemy machines like the Wraith tank.
Halo: Campaign Evolved transports us to a science fiction universe where humanity is at war with the cosmic forces of the Covenant. During the game we take on the role of Master Chief, a genetically modified soldier who, accompanied by the artificial intelligence Cortana, crash-lands on a giant ring-shaped structure – the titular Halo. Over time, the protagonist uncovers the sinister secret of this object, and his goal becomes to prevent the annihilation of all life in the galaxy.
Halo: Campaign Evolved can be played solo or in cooperative mode. Regardless of the platform, the game allows for online coop with up to four people, and additionally, on consoles, split-screen gameplay is possible.
