In December 2021, RocketWerkz studio, founded by DayZ creat?r Dean Hall, put into the hands of players a science fiction survival game titled Icarus. Over the years the production has seen a number of add-ons, led by major expansions. The third of these, Icarus : Dangerous Horizons, at the time of its release, was the largest to date.
The biggest novelty introduced in Icarus: Dangerous Horizons is a new 8 by 8 kilometer map, Elysium. It features a geothermal biome, radioactive areas and an encampment called Eden, inhabited by NPCs.
The story, which is a continuation of the themes from New Frontiers, is set on this territory. In the missions (as well as side quests) that make up the story, we join Mo's new team, the Eris Inquisition, to explore the mysteries of Elysium, where failed terraforming has led to extreme environmental mutations.
Elysium is populated by new set creatures and NPCs, including a previously unseen world boss. There is also no shortage of drones patrolling the area. On the other hand, not everything wants to kill us here, as the expansion allows you to mount four new mounts (including two types of raptors) and tame three other creatures, each equipped with unique abilities and a talent tree.
Elysium is also full of previously unavailable resources. We can find oil, which is the main raw material, and level five equipment, based on lithium, limestone and ruby. In addition, we can collect metasas?b Uranium and process it into rods and send it into orbit. Complementing all this are five species of plants to discover and cultivate, and related recipes.
Icarus: Dangerous Horizons is a non-self-contained expansion, so it requires the basic version of the Icarus game.
