Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix is another set of refreshed Kingdom Hearts games. The previous similar collection was called Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. The new set features three games: Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix (2007), Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix (2011) and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded (2010).

Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix is an expanded edition of Kingdom Hearts II, enriched with additional scenes featuring three mysterious knights who appear in hidden ending. The title also features new difficulty level Critical Mode. Other novelties include Puzzle minigame, a few gameplay mechanics changes and graphics improvements. The game originally debuted on PlayStation 2 and was available only in Japan.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix is the first entry in the series released on PlayStation Portable. The game takes place 10 years before the events depicted in original Kingdom Hearts. The story revolves around Terra, Ven and Aqua three disciples of a Keyblade Master. The expanded Final Mix edition was previously available only in Japan.

Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded was released on Nintendo DS. It is a remake of a game that debuted on mobile phones. The story builds on the plot of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix and it tells about yet another adventure of Sora.

When creating Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix compilation, the developers from Square Enix adapted the controls to PS3 and PS4 gamepad. The graphics of all games were greatly refreshed as well and are compatible with High Definition resolution.
