An isometric shooter developed by Modern Dream in cooperation with Team 17, the authors of the cult-classic Worms series. The story takes us to 1970s, enabling us to assume the role of police officers that fight against crime that plagues the streets of Los Angeles. We are given several different heroes that are characterized by different backgrounds and abilities.
LA Cops for PC and XONE is an indie shooter developed by Modern Dream and released by Team 17, a studio known from the fan-favourite Worms series. The action takes place in the 1970s in Los Angeles, while the players assume the role of police officers fighting against the criminals that endanger the lives of ordinary citizens.
The gameplay itself is similar to what we could see in Hotline Miami. The action is seen from an isometric perspective, while the characters traverse through various buildings divided into small rooms. The fast-paced action and demanding opponents require adequate tactics, using the destructible environment, as well as efficient elimination of the targeted opponents. As police officers, we need to watch out for civilians, which often are the main objective of the given assignment.
We are left with a few police officers, each motivated by unique means which are learned through numerous cut-scenes. Moreover, the heroes are characterized by different abilities and traits, e.g. a larger number of health points, more ammo capacity, movement speed, or damage dealt. Our characters can utilize a number of weapons (pistols, sub-machine guns, grenade launchers, shotguns, rifles).
The game is characterized by a unique graphical style, influenced by classic TV series that took place in 1970s Los Angeles.

Game Ratings for LA Cops Video Game.
God is a Geek: 7.5 / 10 by Mick Fraser
A good little shooter that could have been great, L.A Cops is like a nicer version of Hotline Miami that's a bit on the blander side.
ZTGD: 6.5 / 10 by Ken McKown
LA Cops is a neat diversion with some fantastic style. I had a blast in the short time I played it, but feel like it grows stale far too fast. This is the perfect game to snag during a sale, it is fun for the time it lasts, I just wish there was more to come back to once the raiding was over.
Xbox Achievements: 60 / 100 by Richard Walker
LA Cops is a neat game of cops and criminals that's just too short-lived and lacking. The 70s style is a nice touch and the partner dynamic adds a strategic bent (even if we did mostly just use the second cop as an extra life) to what is otherwise a fairly sterile twin-stick shooter. It's not quite our bag of donuts.
