Letters of War

Letters of War is a narrative-driven, two-dimensional adventure game with rhythmic action sequences. It is set in the realities of World War II. This debut project from the independent studio Wood Cabin Games was inspired by the true story of one of the creators' grandmothers.

Gameplay

In Letters of War we are dealing with a narrative presented from two perspectives: Liam, a volunteer soldier of the 8th British Army, struggling with the hardships of the war front, and his daughter Rose, who is waiting at home for her father's return. The storyline is woven together by the titular correspondence between them.

The core of the gameplay is completing successive mini-games, mainly involving pressing keys at the right moments. As Liam, we chop wood, plunder with a pickaxe, tinker with the plane, avoid missiles and enemy detection, dismantle traps, and also take part in sequences straight from rail shooters, for example by operating an anti-aircraft gun.
