Games that allow the creation of worlds usually feature friendly (more or less, but nevertheless) aesthetics. Nevertheless, there are exceptions to this rule, and one of them is Lucid Blocks, the work of independent developer Eric Alfaro, using the pseudonym Lucy B. Locks.
In Lucid Blocks, the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). The gameplay takes place in surreal procedurally generated environments. We are talking about plastic cities, lava fields and abandoned warehouses, among others.
While wandering through them, we must be on guard, as we encounter opponents in the form of dummies, gelatinous creatures, creatures from higher dimensions or giant spiders. We are not defenseless, and we can fight using bombs, wands and blades. In addition, there are other useful items at our disposal, such as a rope launcher with a hook.
At the same time, the title allows us to collect resources and combine them with each other to build freely with the help of the raw materials thus obtained. Our constructions consist of blocks, and we can both construct buildings and change the terrain. The locations designed in this way are filled with teddy bears, friendly ghosts and other inhabitants. We can share our creations with other players.
The graphic design of Lucid Blocks game is kept in retro style and based on voxels.
