Darts Games is an independent development studio from Azerbaijan, existing since 2019. In addition to the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired game Do No Harm, its portfolio includes the Lunar Ascendant project, which is a peculiar combination of adventure game and strategy, described as a "political drama."
In Lunar Ascendant, we play the role of the mayor of Artemis, a pioneering city erected on the surface of the moon. Our task is to direct it in such a way as to secure its future. This can be done in two ways, the first of which is to transform it into a completely independent entity, while the second is to deepen its dependence on the United Federation of Earth.
We determine the direction of Artemis' development by holding talks with representatives of various factions and making decisions on how to use the limited resources of the lunar metropolis. The matter is complicated by the fact that nothing here is black and white, and our choices have political, social and economic consequences.
Investing in the city's long-term self-sufficiency comes at the expense of living conditions. Improving the latter, on the other hand, entails allowing advanced AI systems, whose tentacles reach ever deeper, which raises social concerns.
Lunar Ascendant takes us to the year 2181. The inhabitants of the Blue Planet, affiliated with the United Federation of Earth, work and live under the watchful eye of the Absolute Artificial Intelligence (AIA). The last bastion of a lifestyle devoid of algorithmic control is the lunar city of Artemis. The game's main character is David De Silva, or its new mayor.
The graphic design of the Lunar Ascendant game is kept in a futuristic, but at the same time rather ascetic style poor in details.
