Medic: Pacific War

Productions dedicated to World War II have accustomed us to the fact that in most of them, we either command units or take direct part in battles against enemy forces. Medic: Pacific War from the Polish studio Hypnotic Ants, known for the game Deconstruction Simulator, approaches this topic differently. It allows us to play as the titular medic during the Pacific War. The creation of this project was made possible partially thanks to a successful fundraising campaign on Kickstarter.

Gameplay

In Medic: Pacific War we mostly watch the action from behind the protagonist's back (TPP). When we are treating the wounds, the camera may change perspective to first-person view (FPP).

The work of a field medic

During the game our primary goal is to aid injured comrades in arms. For this purpose, we most often move them to safe (or at least relatively safe) places, and then we treat their wounds. Individual actions are presented here in a detailed manner, so depending on the injuries we have to independently select bandages, clamping bands and other elements of our first aid kit, and then skillfully use them.

Time pressure and difficult dilemmas

The medic's work is complicated by the fact that we often operate here under time pressure, as well as under enemy fire. Moreover, sometimes there are so many injured that we are not able to save everyone. This forces us to make difficult decisions, and the choices we make not only determine the fate of our companions, but also influence the outcomes of entire battles. We must constantly be on guard, as we too can fall victim to a stray bullet.
