Mega Man X Legacy Collection is a compilation of refreshed versions of the first four Mega Man X games that originally debuted in years 1993-1997: Mega Man X, Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3, and Mega Man X4. The collection was released in order to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the popular series. The game was developed by Capcom, the creators of the franchise.
Mega Man X games take place in the 22nd century. Reploids, androids with free will, exist on Earth. Some of them belong to the Maverick genre and they rose against humanity. The Earth is protected by the titular Mega Man X – a robot that is the successor to the legendary Mega Man. The protagonist is accompanied by Zero and shape-shifting Reploid Axl.
The games available in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection are classic, two-dimensional platformers. The action is presented from a side-scrolling perspective. The players are tasked with traveling through levels, fighting enemies, and avoiding other threats. The protagonist is able to take over the weapons of bosses he defeats. He can also bounce from walls and slide on sloping surfaces. As the players progress through the game, they obtain new equipment pieces that increase the power of the protagonist.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection features only a singleplayer mode. In addition to a story campaign, the package includes a special mode in which the players are fighting two selected bosses simultaneously, by using three weapons. The results are uploaded to an online scoreboard.
The games available in Mega Man X Legacy Collection feature two-dimensional, pixel-art graphics. The visuals were refreshed by increasing their resolution. It is also possible to play each game in their original form. The compilation features a soundtrack with new music tracks.

ZTGD: 7.5 / 10 by Jae Lee
There really isn't much to say about the MMX Legacy Collection. Given my fondness for the series, I'm always happy to have more people discover the pure platforming bliss that most of the series offers and while there certainly is value in keeping things faithful to the original, I would have much preferred a collection of true remasters as it would have gone a long way to justify the asking price.

If you are a fan of the Mega Man X series, then this new collection is a great way to own all your favorite games on one console. The X Challenge is a neat little extra, but is probably not worth a purchase for anyone who isn't coming for the main games themselves.
