A classic point-and-click adventure developed by the independent studio Bit ByterZ, the game was funded via a successful Kickstarter project. Memoranda takes us to a small town inhabited by strange individuals who have lost something. This also happens to the heroine - she is slowly forgetting her own name. Your objective is to find out why this is happening.
Memoranda is a classic point and click adventure created by the independent studio Bit ByterZ. Being a successful Kickstarter project, the title for PC and iOS draws inspiration from works of Haruki Murakami – a Japanese author of e.g. Kafka on the Shore and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.
Memoranda takes the player to a quiet town inhabited by unusual individuals. All of them have one thing in common – they lost something. There is a man whose wife is gone, a professional runner who lost his leg, a bird without animal instincts, a WWII veteran who lost his mind. The heroine is also deprived of something – she forgot her name. The main mission is to solve the puzzle and find out whether she is indeed losing her memory or there is something else going on.
Gameplay of Memoranda released on PC and iOS stays faithful to the genre’s canon. Mainly, you explore, look for important items, and chat with over 35 NPCs. Puzzles that consist in manipulating pieces of equipment you gather play also an important role. The journey takes you to various places – apart from the mentioned town, you also visit a picturesque beach, a derelict junkyard, and gloomy basements. Together, there are over 40 different locations.
Cartoon 2D graphics in Memoranda really attract attention – each element is hand-drawn, therefore the final effect is eye-candy. The title features a specially-composed soundtrack including over 15 tracks. More than that, all dialogues are recorded.

I wanted to love Memoranda. It comes across as a quirky, slightly dark, and fun little point-and-click game. While the story was a little strange, it was also fun and interesting without being too long. The graphics and sound design were spot-on for the tone of the game, instilling a subtle sense of unease all the way through. Unfortunately, the obscure nature of the puzzle solutions lowered my enjoyment a lot. They were just too bizarre, and as a lover of logic puzzles this went completely against what I enjoy in a puzzle. All in all, a nice little experience, but expect to be scratching your head more often than not!

There is an undeniable charm to the game. You call tell that real effort has been spent on trying to craft a unique world with interesting characters.

Memoranda has a nice art style with a story that features a few intriguing concepts, but the high level of difficulty and the nonsensical nature of the puzzles will frustrate all but the most dedicated adventure game fans.
