TPP adventure game in which we take the role of a young witch. In Mika and The Witch's Mountain we explore a picturesque island and deliver various packages to its inhabitants. Explore the surroundings on foot or on the heroine's broom.
Mika and The Witch's Mountain is an adventure game that focuses on stress-free exploration of a fantastic world. It was developed by Chibig, an independent studio whose portfolio includes such games as Summer in Mara and Deiland.
The protagonist of the game Mika and The Witch's Mountain is a girl named Mika. She is an apprentice to a witch residing on the top of a mighty mountain. In order to complete the training, the girl has to help the residents of the town located at the foot of the great massif by delivering them various packages.
In Mika and The Witch's Mountain we observe the action from the third person perspective (TPP). Production gives us a huge island, which we can freely roam. Mika explores the surroundings on foot or, as befits a witch, on her broom, on which she can fly or quickly move on the water surface. Our main goal is to get to know the inhabitants of the island and to deliver them various packages. While transporting the packages we have to be careful, because any collision or contact with the elements can easily damage them. In return for successful deliveries, Mika receives various upgrades.
Mika and The Witch's Mountain features colorful graphics in a cartoon style..

Thumb Culture: 4 / 5
Overall, Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is a delightful game that would resonate well with any age group. It’s a game that allows you to relax, unwind, and fulfil your dreams of being a little witch, working hard to fulfil her dreams, alongside learning lessons about life and building long-lasting friendships. It feels like a love letter that combines fans of Studio Ghibli and cozy games together in one neat package. This was a project made with love and care by gamers for gamers. Which is apparent by the immense support of their Kickstarter page. Whilst the flying mechanic could be smoother, it was a joy to experience. It also highlights a gap in the market of 3D games where you can freely fly around, uninterrupted. The main deterrent for players to not pick this up is how short the game is in comparison to the price. The game is still in Early Access, but some players may want to wait to see how it develops further.

I enjoyed my time with Mika and the Witch’s Mountain and whilst the game is far from perfect, I had to remember the target audience and who this would appeal to. My seven-year-old loved joining and playing this one while I reviewed it. He enjoyed watching the conversations and how Mika interacted with people to gain information for the next objective and then using her broomstick to deliver parcels. It does become somewhat repetitive at times and it does fall a little short at around six hours of gameplay, but this is always the sweet spot for an indie for me. It holds enough quality, polish and great mechanics to make it a game to consider for your younger ones, but I’m not ashamed to say I enjoyed this one as an adult too.

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is a heart-warming game, a warm hug transformed into a delivery game packaged up in a cutesy wrapper. It’s the kind of game I can see appealing to a very specific crowd, the kind who are just looking for something cosy and cute, easy and fun.
