Few mice have any chance in a direct confrontation with a cat. One of the rare exceptions is the main character of Morsels - a roguelite action game with elements of a bullet hell shooter. It was created by the independent Canadian studio Furcula and it is their debut project.

Gameplay

In Morsels events are viewed from a bird's-eye perspective.

Transformation into Morsels

During the game we take on the role of a rodent capable of transforming into the titular Morsels. They are creatures possessing unique abilities and an individual set of strengths, as well as weaknesses that could potentially reduce their combat potential. As we progress, we collect a deck of cards that allows us to change form at any moment. Success is ensured by composing a set where the individual components complement each other.

Dangers in the sewers

This is particularly important as we venture deeper into the sewers, facing increasing threats. We encounter both regular enemies and powerful bosses. Battles with them are dynamic, and during these encounters the screen is often filled with projectiles coming our way.

While not quite the replacement for The Binding of Isaac I wanted, Morsels has a lot of depth and plenty of challenge for those seeking it.
