Sworn
A roguelike action RPG about an alternative version of the Arthurian legends, presented in isometric view. Sworn has us play as a hero who enters the Camelot with a plan to face the evil versions of King Arthur and Knights of the Round Table - alone or in online cooperation.
Sworn is a roguelike action game with RPG elements, created by the independent studio Windwalk Games. The game freely refers to Arthurian legends, presenting their alternative version. In Sworn we can experience comic book graphics inspired by the work of Mike Mignola - known, among others, from a series of graphic novels dedicated to Hellboy.
Plot
Camelot has fallen, King Arthur has become a tyrant, and the Knights of the Round Table have succumbed to the whispers of evil. However, when darkness spreads over Avalon, hope still smolders in human hearts. As a knight of the Soul Forge, we accept the teachings from Merlin and the Lady of the Lake, and also pay tribute to legendary creatures, in order to prepare ourselves for a confrontation with the ghostly ruler.
Gameplay
Sworn is a dynamic game in which we observe the action in an isometric view. We visit the fallen Camelot and, by playing one of the available characters, eliminate the hosts of enemies defending it.
During clashes, we perform quick attacks or rely on powerful, slow blows, constantly fending off our opponents. We use dodges to avoid area attacks or projectiles. On our way stand the undead, Knights of the Round Table (including Gawain equipped with a huge axe) and creatures from Arthurian legends like the Questing Beast.
The game allows us to develop our own gameplay style thanks to the combination of the advantages of various heroes and available weapons. Blessings offered by creatures from British folklore are also of great importance. There are over two hundred fantasy characters available in Sworn, to whom we can pay tribute, in return receiving bonuses and special abilities. For example, choosing the giant Gogmagog will increase our damage from heavy blows, Cliona will affect the power of spells, and the fairy king Oberon will provide us with an increase in Rage. We improve the character with the help of the Avalore Lantern, so that over time we become a hero worthy of fighting with King Arthur.
Game modes
The game offers single-player and online co-op for up to four users. The advantage of cooperation is the possibility of uniquely combining the strengths of different characters.
