  • Lore and Storytelling: The game is praised for its intriguing story and world-building, conveyed through a wealth of audio logs and text entries. The voice acting is also noted as a strong point, enhancing the narrative immersion.
  • Gameplay Mechanics: Reviewers appreciate the gunplay, describing it as satisfying, with some noting the challenge presented by boss fights. The game offers multiple endings, which adds to its replayability.
  • Indie Development: Many users commend the effort of a solo developer, recognizing the ambition and creativity behind the project, especially given the limited resources.

The main cons of the game

  • Short Length: A common criticism is the game’s short playtime, with many players completing it in under two hours. This has led to feelings of it being overpriced for the amount of content.
  • Linear Level Design: Several reviews mention the game's linearity, with a lack of exploration opportunities and puzzles, making it feel restrictive.
  • Quality of Life Issues: Users point out the need for improvements in user interface (UI) and quality of life features, such as customizable controls, a more intuitive save system, and better audio mixing for logs.
  • Enemy AI and Challenge: While some find the combat enjoyable, others criticize the enemy AI as lacking depth, leading to predictable encounters that do not pose a significant challenge.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Expanded Gameplay Mechanics: Players express a desire for more complex mechanics, such as puzzles or branching paths, to enhance the gameplay experience.
  • Improved Save Systems: The absence of manual save options and the reliance on a single save file have been frustrating for some, particularly in a game that encourages exploration.
  • Audio and Subtitle Options: Users have requested subtitles for audio logs and better audio balancing, as some voice lines are difficult to hear compared to others.
  • Longer Content: Many reviews suggest that the game could benefit from additional content, such as more levels, enemy variety, and deeper lore exploration.

Summary

  • In summary, Mother Hub is appreciated for its atmospheric presentation and storytelling, but it suffers from issues related to length, linearity, and gameplay depth. Players see potential in the game and hope for future improvements or expansions that could enhance the overall experience.
