Murder Mystery Machine is an episodic detective adventure game. The game was developed by Blazing Griffin, an independent American studio with such projects in its portfolio as Distant Star: Revenant Fleet and Murderous Pursuits.
The main character of Murder Mystery Machine is a rookie detective Cassandra "CC" Clarke, who started working in District Crime Agency (DCA). The protagonist and her partner - an experienced investigator named Nate - are assigned to solve the murder of a local politician, Frank Daniels. It soon turns out that the assassination of the politician, which initially looked like a robbery gone wrong, was supposed to start a whole series of crimes. While trying to solve them, Cassandra and her colleague uncover a government conspiracy and become embroiled in a much bigger intrigue.
In each episode of Murder Mystery Machine you solve criminal puzzles that make up a big case, full of mysteries to be uncovered and terra incognita waiting to be filled. The game sees you investigating crime scenes, looking for clues and evidence (facilitated not only by a top-down view and the ability to pan, zoom in and out of the camera), questioning witnesses and interviewing suspects involved in crimes.
The clues are then meticulously analysed and linked together on a special board. In this way, we reconstruct the sequence of events at crime scenes, assign suspects to them and uncover their potential motives, and in consequence come closer to discovering the identity of the criminals..
The graphics of Murder Mystery Machine are kept in a dark noir style, typical for detective stories.
