Continuation of Nekopara Vol. 1 - a classic visual novel adventure set in a world inhabited by cats taking on a human figure. Players take on the role of the owner of the confectionery, who has to take care of and help several cats belonging to his family.
Nekopara Vol. 2 is a classic visual novel adventure game in which we play the role of an owner of a small patisserie. The game was produced by an independent Japanese studio NEKO WORKs. The production is a direct sequel to Nekopara Vol. 1, which originally debuted on PCs in 2014. Since the premiere of the first part, the Nekopara series has been a considerable success for a small developer, and its popularity is still growing. In 2017, a half-hour animated adaptation of the game, which was financed through the Kickstarter service, had its premiere.
The action of the game takes place in contemporary Japan. However, the country is inhabited by both people and cats, which at first glance resemble ordinary people. They are endowed with intelligence and the ability to communicate by speech. NeKopara Vol. 2 continues the story started in the first part of the series and begins immediately after the end of the first game. Again, we play the role of Kashou Minaduki, who recently opened a patisserie called La Soleil where he sells his own baked goods. The business goes very well. Kashou is assisted by his sister Shigure and two cats - Chocola and Vanilla.
This time, the story focuses on two more cats, which belong to the Minadouki family, who decided to help in running La Soleil. The new cats are Azuki, the oldest of all cats, and Coconut, the youngest of them and the unusually clumsy. During the game, players will have to bury the hatchet between two half-sisters and help them to regain confidence.
Like the first installment of the series, Nekopara Vol. 2 is a classic visual novel adventure. The game is again limited to reading successive lines of text enriched with illustrations and animated portraits of characters. Players do not make any decisions affecting the further course of the story, and the whole game should take several hours.
NeKopara Vol. 2 offers high quality graphics. Noteworthy is the E-mote system, which is responsible for character animation. Thanks to its several technical tricks, the two-dimensional portraits of the characters are able to move smoothly and express various emotions. Also, all character dialogues have been dubbed by professional Japanese actors.
