NEStalgia is an unusual network game, maintained in fantasy climates. Referring in its assumptions and stylistics to the trends of the 1980s, it is also full of solutions taken from contemporary production. Simple graphics allow you to run it on any computer.
NEStalgia is a network RPG game maintained in a very original climate. Drawing inspiration from games of a bygone era, it offers 8-bit graphics diversified by modern solutions seen, for example, in World of Warcraft. The game was released only on a PC, and independent studio Silk Games is responsible for the production.
The character in which the player plays is a time traveler whose task is to stop the approaching catastrophe. The approaching apocalypse threatens the whole known world and only we are able to prevent it. In order to achieve this, we must go back to the past, to times full of dragons, knights and magic. Initially, everyone takes us all for a madman, but after meeting a certain Balzack King everything begins to roll in the right direction. By accepting new orders and performing our own mission, we slowly turn the unfortunate future to our advantage.
However, the road to success is not the easiest one - there are terrifying catacombs, dungeons, demons, dragons and other beasts on our way. In order to face them, players can join together in teams, and those who prefer to play alone have the opportunity to recruit NPC companions or use the minions they meet to fight. All skirmishes are fought in turn-based mode and exploration takes place in real time. Despite the fact that the story itself is linear, we can explore the huge world and fight monsters at our own discretion, completely ignoring the main mission.
Playing as one of the several available classes (e.g. warrior, cleric, trader, ninja), we not only fight against beasts, but after choosing the right option we can also fight against other players in special tournaments, in which the winner receives special items and gold in addition to glory.
NEStalgia is maintained in a simple visual setting reminiscent of productions from the early 1980s. Thanks to the easy-to-use, 8-bit graphics, production can be run on any computer without any major problems. In a retro climate, the soundtrack is also maintained - uncomplicated notes sound the same as in the titles that were played a few decades ago.
