New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers is a simple strategy game, developed by Arc System Works. The game has been released on PC and SWITCH, among others.
The story in New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers plays a secondary role. A player takes control over a group of pioneers – with the task of establishing a flourishing settlement – and tends to the settlers’ needs.
In the PC and SWITCH release of New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers players observe the action from a top-down perspective. As the game starts, a player has at his disposal only one building and several workers, who have to be assigned to particular jobs like gathering resources, in order to expand the settlement. Our subjects can handle mining, woodcutting, fishing, and also hunting game. After gathering sufficient reserves, there is no other option but to power the production buildings and erect new structures – both production buildings (mills, factories, and farms) and utility buildings, which, among others, increase the population limits.
Our pioneers oftentimes have to face the aforementioned wild animals. After being domesticated, they support our pioneers in hunting and transportation, serving as faithful steeds. As the game progresses, a player receives the so-called Invention Cards, which allow him to modify given gameplay aspects, such as the harvesting speed.
New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers features three diverse game modes. The basic one is the Story Mode, in which players have to carry out a number of tasks with the help of our assistant – Jessica. There is also the Survival Mode available at five different difficulty levels. In this mode, one has to face various challenges testing his survival skills. The last one is the Free Mode, in which a player can freely develop his settlement using all of the acquired Invention Cards.
New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers features pleasing to one’s eye visuals displaying a cartoonish style. Due to the simple mechanics, the game targets younger players, as well as those unfamiliar with the character of this video game genre.
