A strategy game in which we manage a New York City newspaper. News Tower tasks us with creating a media empire, hiring employees, expanding our office and choosing the articles to place on the front page.
News Tower is a strategy game in which we manage a newspaper, deciding what to publish, employing the staff and expanding our HQ. It features humorous, comic book-like visuals and was developed by the Rotterdam-based studio Sparrow Night.
The player leads a small newspaper in the 1930s, tasked with expanding it into a media mainstay. We start off modestly, writing about minor matters local to Brooklyn.
Over time we expand to other districts of New York, writing about sensational topics such as Prohibition, the Great Depression and an impending war.
News Tower has us managing all the matters in our editorial office - we'll get to hire staff, such as cleaners, salesmen, lawyers, photographers and newsmen, then decide what kind of news they'll cover and how (through interviewing or discreetly). This sets our newspaper's tone, making it either a gossipy tabloid or a credible information source.
After gathering material, we must prepare our front page, choosing which articles to include on it. This affects our paper's popularity and profits, both from sales and advertisements. Each unlocked district grants new upgrades and potential readers. Some articles may draw the interest of influential people - many of whom are dangerous and can start making demands towards us.
Taking care of our office is also crucial. We must build separate rooms for different newsmen, telegraphs and printers, expanding the building if we run out of space.

Game Ratings for News Tower Video Game.
GameOnly: 4 / 5
News Tower isn’t a game that could be called a successor to Game Dev Tycoon. It’s a much more complex blend of strategy and builder mechanics that can keep you hooked for a long time. Maybe not necessarily in a single session, but definitely through many shorter ones. If you love jazz, upgrades, and seeing tangible progress, this game is for you.
Gamer Escape: 8 / 10 by Mike Thomas
News Tower is a return to form. It feels made for fans of a genre that’s become lost in the Steam Early Access muck. It also feels like a great entry point for people looking to do more than stock virtual shelves.
FingerGuns: 8 / 10 by Toby Andersen
News Tower reaches the heady stressful heights of the Tycoon genre, challenging you to keep a newspaper in print and filled with stories every week, to manage a tower of reporters, cleaners, and typesetters, and to satisfy a town of opposing factions, all wrapped up with a lovingly vibrant 1930s golden age string ready to be hawked on a street corne
