Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is very exciting and addictive with its fast-paced action and challenging gameplay. I really missed a fun action game with a cool retro pixel-art style like this.

User Reviews Summary generated by AI

The main pros of the game

  • Visuals and Art Direction: Many users praised the game's pixel art and animation quality, noting that it is beautifully designed and fluid, reflecting the high standards expected from the developers of Blasphemous.
  • Gameplay Mechanics: The combat is described as fast-paced and satisfying, with a good flow that allows players to feel like skilled ninjas. The introduction of mechanics like the "hypercharge" and "guillotine boosts" adds depth to the gameplay.
  • Soundtrack: The music received high praise, with remixed tracks from the classic Ninja Gaiden series that resonate well with fans.
  • Boss Design: Although challenging, the bosses are generally regarded as well-designed, requiring players to learn their patterns and strategize effectively.
  • Replayability: The game offers various difficulty settings, collectibles, and challenges, encouraging players to replay levels for better ranks and mastery.
  • Engaging Story and Characters: The narrative, while not groundbreaking, is enjoyable, with good character interactions between Kenji and Kumori that add depth to the experience.

The main cons of the game

  • Difficulty Balance: Some players found the game to be easier than expected, especially compared to classic Ninja Gaiden titles, which may disappoint fans seeking a more challenging experience. Bosses are also described as "damage sponges," leading to prolonged fights that some found tedious.
  • Short Length: Several reviews mentioned that the game is relatively short, with the main story taking about 5 to 10 hours to complete, which may not justify the price for some players.
  • Flow Disruption: The hypercharge mechanic, while innovative, was criticized for sometimes disrupting the flow of gameplay, making it feel more restrictive than enjoyable.
  • Limited Weapon Variety: Some users expressed disappointment with the lack of variety in sub-weapons and talismans, noting that certain gear felt underwhelming compared to others.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • More Depth in Gameplay Mechanics: Some players felt that the game lacked depth in its mechanics, suggesting that a sequel could expand on the existing systems for a richer experience.
  • Additional Character Playthroughs: There were calls for more playable content for Kumori, as her role felt limited compared to Kenji's.
  • Difficulty Customization: Users expressed a desire for more flexibility in difficulty settings, such as the ability to change weapon loadouts mid-level or to have more dynamic difficulty adjustments.
  • Expanded Story and Content: Several reviews indicated that the game could benefit from a longer story or additional side missions to enhance the overall experience.

Summary

  • In summary, while NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound is celebrated for its visuals, gameplay, and music, it also faces criticism regarding its difficulty, length, and some gameplay mechanics, with users expressing a desire for deeper content and more variety.
