Ninja Pizza Girl on PC, PS4 and WiiU platforms is a cyberpunk style side-scroll platform game in which we deliver pizza in a gloomy world of the future, captured by powerful corporations. The game was developed by an independent Australian studio Disparity Games. It was founded by a couple - Jason Stark, an experienced designer such as Happy Feet 2, Legend of the Guardians or Viva Pinata: Party Animals, and Nicole Stark, an animator of such games as Barbie's Sparkling Ice Show, Jimmy Neutron, Jet Fusion and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger.
In the game we play the role of a sixteen-year-old girl named Gemma, who delivers pizza in a restaurant belonging to her father. The action takes place in a dystopian world dominated by powerful corporations, which, using the poor, led to the extreme impoverishment of society. It is therefore hardly surprising that a good pizza is an exceptionally sought after and desired product. Faithful to her ideals and loyal to her family business, Gemma has to face the most merciless enemy a teenage girl can face on her way, namely other teenagers.
The action of Ninja Pizza Girl takes place largely in slums and on the roofs of skyscrapers, which our heroine travels, supplying customers with ordered pizzas. In terms of mechanics, the title combines the features of classic platformers in the style of Sonica with arcade elements known from games such as Mirror's Edge, using the art of parkour. With the latter production Ninja Pizza Girl also combine similar fictional realities. In the next levels, the Gemma will perform stunts, using its abilities to jump over platforms, avoid various obstacles or climb the pipes. The main opponent of the girl, however, will not only be the passing time, but also her enemies gifted with equally high skills. An interesting solution is to replace the classic energy bar with an indicator reflecting the current self-esteem of the heroine.
Graphic design of the game is maintained in the style of combining cyberpunk with comic book. The different levels are mainly filled with pastel colours in shades of pink and violet, thanks to the neon lights that illuminate the city. We get to know the elements of the plot thanks to comic, hand-drawn cut-scenes, the author of which is a teenage developer's collaborator. Thanks to the use of the popular multiplatform Unity engine, the game also reached the users of mobile devices in an almost identical setting.
