Oddmar for AND and iOS is a colorful two-dimensional platform game telling a story about the daily life and customs of Vikings. The game was developed by Mobge Games, a Turkish studio known for well-received productions for iOS and Android mobile systems.

Mechanics

The game offers 25 extensive levels with a lot of jumping, climbing, and (granted) – a lot of pickups, traps, and around thirty opponents to be defeated during the game. The titular mushrooms are a mainstay of the game, as the historical Vikings often ate them in order to receive godlike powers. A similar feature can be found during the game, as eating various types of mushrooms allow us to gain access to different abilities.

Oddmar is especially interesting considering that the story and the gameplay itself have been deeply rooted in the Viking history, customs, and beliefs. The authors have spent a lot of time on studying the culture of the legendary folk – the adventures, runes, and other items that appear during the game has been taken straight from legends and historical sources.

Technical Aspects

The colorful visuals in the AND and iOS version are very detailed and are reminiscent of the latest installments of the Rayman series. The soundtrack has been recorded by Pär Svensson, a guitar player, composer and music producer responsible for creating music tracks for many commercials, movies, and video games.
