Panzer Corps 2: Elite - 1st Guards

After the release of the World War II turn-based strategy game titled Panzer Corps 2 in 2020, its development became a cornerstone of the activities of the studio Flashback Games responsible for it. The studio has prepared a series of expansions that represent specific sub-cycles. Among them is the 1st Guards expansion described here. It belongs to the Elite sub-series initiated by Panzer Corps 2: Elite – Ghost Division.

New features in the expansion

The action of Panzer Corps 2: Elite - 1st Guards begins with Nazi Germany breaking the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and their attack on the Soviet Union in June 1941. The expansion focuses on the elite Soviet Guards.

Scenarios

We can take control of the elite unit of the Red Army and participate in a series of battles that contributed to turning the tide of the war and, consequently, the fall of the Third Reich. The nine scenarios prepared for this DLC cover the years 1937-1945, thus spanning the period from pre-war times, through the Battle of Stalingrad and the Battle of Kursk, to the expulsion of German forces from Soviet territory.

Main and optional objectives

In an effort to faithfully reflect the actions on the Voronezh front and the 1st Ukrainian front, the developers decided not to implement alternative scenarios. The gameplay adheres to the main philosophy behind Panzer Corps, focusing primarily on capturing territories from enemies. For the purposes of individual scenarios, extensive maps have been prepared, and the turn limits have been increased (which can also be completely disabled) along with the deployment of CORE.
