An expansion for the World War 2 strategy game. Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Westwall allows us to command American forces, breaking through the Siegfried Line and trying to reach the titular Westwall. The DLC features 14 new missions, as well as brand new types of units.
Panzer Corps 2 is a turn-based strategy game set during World War II, released in 2020. After the premiere of their project, the developers from Flashback Games studio started working on additional content, regularly releasing subsequent expansions. One of them is the Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Westwall DLC described here.
Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Westwall gives us control of American forces. From September to December 1944 they were trying to break through the Siegfried Line, planning to reach the German border and open the titular Westwall.
Over the course of 14 missions, we have the opportunity to take control of the corridor stretching from Maastricht to Aachen and capture the fortifications located under the latter, or lead troops through the Huertgen forest and the Roer plains, and later - through Lorraine and the Saar region.
As we get closer to the Siegfried Line, the enemy troops are more entrenched and so the level of difficulty increases from mission to mission. The tasks we are given force us to conduct both urban and forest battles, as well as to launch open armored attacks.
Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Westwall also introduces new units, such as Sherman tanks with improvised field equipment (in the form of sandbags or planks), which provide them with improved statistics and unique features. The number of these machines is limited.
In addition, we get a light truck for transporting infantry and smaller artillery, namely the Dodge WC-63, as well as upgraded variants of aircraft. The attack on the Westwall also provides an opportunity to overcome a new type of fortifications in the form of so-called Dragon's Teeth, as well as bunkers (which can be connected into extensive defensive networks).
The icing on the cake are the changes in the visual sphere, led by portraits of officers, briefings, and campaign maps.
Panzer Corps 2: Frontlines - Westwall is a non-standalone expansion, so it requires the base version of the game.
